Chai, Banana Bread and the Yacht Club

I woke early this morning and this is what I saw....gorg-e-ous!!
We left at 8 for Aroba, (think, long bumpy ride) for Bible study and clothing give away.
Brent shared on love and respect in marriage from Ephesians 5. Isaiah interpreted for him.
The clothing give away/sale was right after dismissal.
When the doors opened, the ladies literally ran into the building, snatching up things on the run.
Spoke to me of greed that as cultured American Mennonites, we mask a little more discreetly...
These ladies were so excited about getting some clothes..
The men were excited, too, though a little less dramatic :)

Marlin and Darla had taken a black trash bag filled with empty container. Anything from yogurt containers to 2L pop bottles to gallon oil jugs. I looked into the bag and thought they had mistakenly brought their recycle bin...but the ladies quickly snatched them up...
Tara helped to make the chai over a wood fire...

We served the banana bread we had baked the day before...
We served the chai...

and we went home with 8 empty pans....
not because there were so many people there, but because those that were there, simply stocked up on the food...we made 20 gallon  of chai and gave it all away..

We bounced home....which I find very tiring!
This was a particularly bad stretch of road...
After a nap, we headed to Lake Victoria to the Yacht Club for supper....
QUIET gorgeous place...
right beside the lake...
yet so removed from the noise of Kisumu...
with an incredible view
and fantastic food...
Paneer and butter nons and rice and those spuds(can't remember what they're called)
Wonderful Asian food..
and fine fellowship....
Memories as the children played relays and cards and various stunts in the beautiful lawn...
and laughter from the pier...We only wish we had spotted a hippo or two, but it was not to be...

Tomorrow we leave early and drive 4 hrs to the Masai Mara and will return Saturday afternoon....
