Visit the Masai village...

When we went to the Mara, we visited one of the Masai villages. That was a rich cultural experience.

So when we pulled in we heard great shrieking at high decibels and great vrrumpings at very low decibels...:)  When we walked into the village our eyes were met with dancing, vrrumping men and screamimg women. The men were dancing this really cool step, I will show you when I get home(its really easy!!!;), while singing/vrrumping the beat of their song... And the women were swaying, singing and shrieking... Then, as we watched, the men started dancing down the stope toward us and engulfed us into their sweating, dancing and vrrumping midst!! (it was a little frightening) Ok. Then this sweet teeny tiny woman, she was shorter then me, put this really cool jangly necklace thingy around my neck, grabbed my hand and pulled me into the dance...!!! So, I can now say that I have danced with the Masai...It was fun!!! :) Only to discover later that the sweet 'woman' I was dancing with was acually a man, needlesss to say, I about had a cow...!!! :) I though he was a her cause he was so short!! Some of those warriors were TALL!!!!! :)
Ok. So you know those pictures you have seen in the National Geography books with those half naked men jumping...? Well, I have fully experienced that!!! After the warriors were done dancing they started jumping(they are at this point still vrrumping  at high rates of vpm's(vrrumps per minute)!!!!) And boy, did they ever jump!!! Tradition goes that whoever can jump the highest gets the prettiest woman, to which Dad promply said, "No man is ever gonna be able to jump high enough!'
Jumping Masai!! The man jumping on the left was our 'tour guide' and he spoke surprisingly good English...!! He is the asssistent chief, but single, notice he is jumping...

I know Mom posted some pictures the other day, but I am gonna do some more...!I The bead work there is absolutely incredible!!!

A blood catcher...!! Not acual name. The Masai 'blood' a cow from its jugular vein, mix it with milk then drink it... But if they want it really good, they will first curdle the milk, then mix in the blood... Violá!!! What a refreshing beverage!!!

I cried when we left the Mara because we were leaving the Masai people too... I think they are beautiful people... I want to go back and live with them and show them Jesus, who He is and what He can do..   -tara
